The Art Institutes
PLEASE STOP SCROLLING AND READ THIS IF YOU ARE EVEN THINKING ABOUT CONSIDERING THE ART INSTITUTES.
The Art Institute that I attend in Orange County has been featured on multiple news websites in regards to a recent event that has torn our campus to pieces.
Mike Tracy, a fantastic and passionate animation teacher, has been terminated for taking a stand against unnecessary digital textbooks. Despite a petition that rounded up 3,700 votes in 12 days asking AI to reconsider, they fired Tracy and remain stone-faced about the decision. They are now laying off more than 25 teachers and consolidating majors to protect their profits, further hindering the students as they struggle with the astronomical tuition the school demands.Putting this on my art blog because a lot of you want to go to art school, and its important.
Art Institutes are for-profit. They literally do not care about you, your future, your education, or creating future artists. Even if it seems like they do, they don’t. They care about money and getting as many people there as they can. They are terrible schools (occasionally filled with good teachers), and they will take you for all your worth, kick you out on your ass, and then demand you pay them.
Do not go to an Art Institute. If you want to learn basics, go to a community college that has an arts program. Find something else. Don’t put your future at risk because it seems tempting.
My God, AI was on my list of possible colleges to go to next freaking year.
Thank you Tumblr
I always thought Art Institutes smelled fishy
Interesting
Fuck the Art Institutes so badly. My boyfriend graduated from one in North Carolina years ago, and he is still having to grit his teeth through problems caused by them that still haunt him today. Whatever you do, please avoid this damnable, scheming institution. Normally I wouldn’t ask this, but, please, reblog the living hell out of this post.
I was supposed to go to the Portland Art Institute this year but decided to wait and think until next year, wow this post was helpful in thinking about THAT
the Art Institutes I don’t think are even legit, accredited colleges; they’re certificate mills
One of my friends looked into going to the Art Institutes, and they asked her for 100,000 UP FRONT to enroll. After she decided that she didn’t want to go, they kept bugging her for months and months and months after the fact, to pay $100 for her application fee. She wasn’t even attending, and they were STILL asking for her money.
so yeah, fuck AI
Yikes.
Yeah signal boost. Take AI off your list.
This makes me feel better about the school I went to ahaha.
